As Joanna Gaines becomes more famous, so does the rage for all things farmhouse. Unfortunately, some of the decor can be pretty pricey. Thankfully, I found a way to make farmhouse inspired signs on the cheap.
Oh, and did I mention they were easy peasy?
Canvas(any size is good)
Stain (I like a darker one)
I started with a small canvas first to make sure it was going to work. The one I’m working with here is an 8×10. Flip it over and remove the staples. Once they’re out, separate the canvas and the frame.
Use stain very lightly on the wood frame and set aside to dry. I like to rub a paper towel over my stain to keep it from being to dark.
Meanwhile, cut your canvas to the size of your wood frame. As I stated above, mine was 8×10. If you’d rather save time, just trace the wood from. Now paint your design on the canvas. You can do an initial, bible verse, last name, saying, etc.
Once everything is completely dry, reattach the canvas (staple or glue) to the back of the frame. Ta Dah! You now have an adorable farm house sign.
Suggestion from a friend: spritz the end result with a little water and dry with a hair dryer to tighten the canvas up.
I now have random farmhouse signs throughout my house! Show me yours in the comments!
