Happy first month of blogging on a self hosted site (I wrote some on WordPress.com before making the switch) to me!
In this first month, I’ve learned so, so much and also realized that I still have a very long way to go. I came to realization that I probably should have spent this first month writing posts before going live, but, instead I went live with only a few posts up. Even through my mistakes, I was able to make a whopping $0.11 blogging. My husband said at this rate, we may be placed in a higher tax bracket. Seriously though, I was pretty stinkin’ happy to make anything seeing as I kind of jumped into the blogging world head first.
All eleven cents came from Google AdSense. I’ve read a lot of negative things about using ads for your main source of income, but for right now, this is the only way I’m getting a dime (plus one cent). I don’t exactly have brands throwing themselves at me and my hand full of subscribers, but we’ll get there one day.
For the month of October:
Amazon Clicks: 0
Amazon Sales: 0
AdSense Income: $0.11
Instagram Followers: 294
Number of Post: 15 (6 rolled over from WordPress.com)
I’ve found that, surprisingly enough, my best posts are those regarding breastfeeding. Unfortunately for me, this is not an area of expertise as I’m learning everyday too. With that, in the coming month, I would really like to post on a few more broad topics to see where other interests may be from my readers (all five of them).
I don’t want to push too hard with the holidays, but within the next couple months I would like to create some quality printables for my subscribers. Again, depending on where interests are will affect the types of printables I add first. I do have several in the works though.
Other goals for the next two months:
Grow email list
New disclosure policy
Research freelance writing
Create a Facebook Page
Create a Twitter
Increase Pinterest Activity
My last, and most important goal for the coming months is to share my blog with family and friends. This sounds so silly, but I’m so nervous to do this at the risks of failing or looking naive. I know that when I do share with family and friends, the post on Allie’s Story is the one that I would like to share. It’s been almost a year since our first hospital stay, so I would love to use the anniversary in my release.
Hopefully next month I will see even more growth. I can’t wait to continue this journey and share our lives with all my readers!
