Minnie Mouse is Allie Beth’s all time favorite character. Her first birthday party was Minnie Mouse and she probably would have been happy with birthday number 2 as Minnie Mouse. This year with two girls, it was only fitting that they go as Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck for Halloween. Here is a look at how I created a DIY Minnie Mouse Costume for cheap.
Minnie Mouse Ears (I had these left from Allie’s first birthday, but you can definitely make your own or buy them in party supplies.)
Hot Pink Shirt (got this one on sale at Wal-Mart for a dollar)
Black Leggings/pants (I used RuffleButts tights. I bought two and got one for free! Click here to purchase yours! )
Pink Shoes (I just used a pair she already had.)
Hot glue gun
Minnie’s shirt is pink with a white collar and buttons. From white felt, I cut two triangles and three circles (just over an inch in diameter—a bottle cap makes the perfect stencil). I used hot glue to attach them to the shirt. Then, I, again, used hot glue to add white ribbon to the bottom of the shirt. This is pretty unnecessary, but I wanted to break up the pink in the shirt and the skirt because they aren’t exactly the same shade. You can definitely sew these on, but I’m not that smart and can’t sew worth two cents. LOL!
The base of Minnie’s skirt was created using my DIY No Sew Tutu. I cut Ribbon strips the same width as the tulle and hot glued them to the ends of each piece of tulle. Then, using my fingers and hot glue in places created circles. I used pink with white polka dot ribbon because I had it on hand, but pink, black, or white would work fine. I also cut more polka dots the same size as the buttons on her shirt to glue sporadically on the tutu.
Add the Minnie ears, leggings, shoes, and maybe even some white gloves and black face paint to create a one of a kind, cheap, easy, DIY, no sew Minnie Mouse costume.
