Andie turned two months old on July 23, 2017!
Andie had a 2 month check up scheduled for August 3, but because Allie had to go to UNC that day, we decided to postpone so we weren’t breaking our neck to get back in time. The soonest they could get us in at her usual office was the 29th, so I opted to take an appointment at another office within our practice on the 9th. She was seen by one of the same NPs that Allie has seen many times and we love her!
Emma, Allie, and Nana Penny sat in the waiting area while Andie and I went back for her check. She weighed 11 pounds and 3 ounces. I was a little disappointed with that because she has gained weight so quickly in the past, but the NP assured me that it was a good weight gain. She is in the 25th percentile for weight and was in the 29th at her one month check. Bless her heart–that little head was in the 98th percentile! The Dr. was amazed at how easily she held her head and rolled over. She told me her eyes looked like they had both brown and blue in them.
I also asked about sunscreen for her since we are going to the beach next week. I was thinking with Allie it was two months, but I have forgot so much that I asked to be safe. She said it is typically 6 months, but if she is going to be in the sun to use sunscreen. When Allie was going through her photosynthetic battle with Voriconazole, I bought every sunscreen available including some made of essential oils. I will probably try the Neutrogena one first. That is what Allie Beth has been using too.
Health: Andie seems to be a healthy, happy little girl. We go soon for genetic testing because of everything they have found with Allie, but we have been assured that it is very unlikely for Andie to have the same problems.
Occasionally she wakes up with a stuffy nose in the morning. I forgot to ask the doctor about this, but it seems to improve with age. We all suffer from allergies, but I know kids don’t typically show signs of allergies until about 2 or 3.
She still has a little dry skin on her head too. The first layer has already came off, but this is another layer. I’m not sure if I’m washing her hair too often, but I don’t want to put lotion on her head and make her hair oily. I know this will solve itself though so I am not too concerned.
Sleep: She’s doing pretty good at night and will usually sleep for a 5-6 hours stretch, which is great if I would go to sleep, but instead I stay up and find something else to do (and y’all I regret it in the morning). I think she may be going though a growth spurt the last couple of days though because she seems to be waking more frequently. Let’s hope this resolves soon ’cause mama needs her sleep!
Nursing: Nutrsing is going good. There has been a few times that I felt like my supply may have dipped. I would drink a ton of water and pump after a few feeding. Within the next day or two, i usually felt pretty much back to normal. I have around 100 oz store in a Dr. Pepper box in the freezer. Now that I have 100 oz, I rarely pump unless it’s to replace replace a bag in my stash or to increase my supply.
Activities: Baby girl is rolling over like a champ from back to belly. She hates being on her back at all so she fights until she gets to her belly, then snoozes good. The doctor assured us as long as she is rolling to her tummy, it is perfectly fine for her to sleep that way. She also loves to be held while she sleeps, but, hey, who doesn’t love to snuggle?
Andie Brooke is such a blessing to our little family! I love watching her and Allie Beth grow together!
